Bad Vibrations

When the ocean floor moves because of an earthquake , great volumes of water are moved. If this happens in deep water, small waves may be the only noticeable effect. While the waves travel across the ocean at speeds over 400 miles per hour, toward shallow water, they start to slow down. They can then rise to heights of 50-100 feet. These waves are called tsunamis.
