Incubation Troubleshooting

A number of embryos dead from the sixth through the sixteenth days of incubation.

Probable Cause Suggested Corrective Measure
Incubator temperature much too high.

Check accuracy of thermometer. Operate incubator at proper temperature.

Infected embryos - either by infection from dams or external microbial contamination

Provide adequate ventilation of the hatcher room and proper openings of the hatcher ventilators.

Lack of ventilation.

Provide adequate ventilation of the incubator room and proper openings of the incubator ventilators.
