Incubation Troubleshooting
Eggs pipped part way, embryos either dead or still alive.
| Probable Cause | Suggested Corrective Measure |
| Eggs set large end down in incubator trays or,
less likely, crowded in hatcher trays so that some eggs are large
end down

Check egg setting and transfer procedures properly.

| Improper turning of eggs.
|
Turn eggs hourly, or, at least, at regular intervals
eight times a day
|
| Low average humidity.
|
Maintain proper temperature throughout incubation
and hatching cycle.
|
| Inadequate ventilation, or chicks weakened from
other causes
|
Provide proper ventilation of the incubator and
hatcher rooms and proper openings of the incubator and hatcher ventilators.
Do not recirculate foul air.

| Excessive high temperature for a short period.
|
Guard against temperature surge.
|
| Low average temperature.
|
Maintain proper temperature throughout incubation and hatching cycle. |
