Incubation Troubleshooting
Large, soft-bodied mushy chicks dead on trays with bad odor.
| Probable Cause | Suggested Corrective Measure |
| Poor ventilation in incubator and/or hatcher.

Provide proper ventilation of the incubator and
hatcher rooms and proper openings of the incubator and hatcher ventilators.
|
| Humidity too high, especially during incubation.
|
Maintain proper humidity levels throughout incubating
and hatching cycle.
|
| Omphasitis (Navel infection).
|
Thoroughly clean hatcher and hatch trays between hatches. Be sure hatch trays are clean. (A severe bad odor in this connection is most always associated with Omphalitis). |
