Ron Duncan is a Community and Economic Development Educator for University of Illinois Extension in Unit 27, serving the counties of Alexander, Johnson, Massac, Pulaski and Union.
Before joining Extension, Ron worked in technical and managerial positions in healthcare, manufacturing and education. Working as an engineer for the Whirlpool Corporation, Ron was one of only six internal Performance Effectiveness Specialists serving the company's North American manufacturing facilities, and developed electrical control devices patented by Whirlpool. In this role, he was involved in critical manufacturing system design efforts and human factors performance improvements.
Recently, working with both government and industry, he has been instrumental in formulating strategies for 21st century business development in Illinois, and fostering broadband deployment across the state.
Ron was recognized in 2009 by the U.S. Department of Labor for his assistance in helping the agency broaden the scope of its efforts to improve the national online labor database (O'NET) in the area of college and professional educators.
Along with his engineering credentials, Ron holds a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Development and a master's degree in Management Science. He has also completed post graduate work in Workforce Education and Development at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
