Wooly adelgid can be very serious.  Other common, but less serious insects include scale, mites, leaf miners and gypsy moth.   Diseases include cankers and needle rust.

When grown in full sun, this tree requires a consistent supply of moisture as well as good drainage; intolerant of winds and drought.
