Mound shaped plant with light green fine textured leaves. Red-purple flowers appear in June-August and cover the plant in a reddish cloud. Foliage turns reddish in the fall.
This is a clump forming cool season grass.
Prefers sandy well-drained soil in full sun. Drought tolerant.

Excellent accent plant or as a mass planting. Compact size good for use in borders. Good for use in the dry garden. Plant does not like damp wet soils in shady locations.
