Pink, funnel-shaped flowers in late spring and early summer. 
 
Culture
Full sun to partial shade; moist, well-drained soil is best. 
 
Cultivars

Numerous cultivars including:

  • 'Alexandra' (Wine and Roses®)- 4-5 feet tall, deep, rose-pink flowers and burgundy leaves.
  • 'Minuet' - 30 inches tall, ruby red flowers, leaves are tinged with purple.
  • 'Polka' - 3-4 feet tall, pink flowers with yellow interior.
  • 'Red Prince' - 5-6 feet tall, red flowers, very cold hardy.
  • 'Variegata'- 6 feet tall, deep pink flowers, green leaves with a creamy white edge.

Weigela is often thought of as a one season plant since flowering is the main ornamental feature. However, some cultivars now feature colored or variegated foliage which extends the time in which the plant is considered ornamental.
