Cut Flower Gardening: What to Plant, How to cut and Arrange

Please Join Livingston, McLean and Woodford County University of Illinois Extension Horticulture for a series of workshops designed to teach the community how to grow. Selecting topics that are popular and sure to teach novice and avid gardener's skills to grow flowers and vegetables fruitfully. A program fee of $5 and online registration will be required.

Cut flower gardening workshop will be presented Wednesday, June 1 at10 a.m. at the Livingston County Extension office located at 1412 S. Locust in Pontiac. A second workshop will take place Tuesday, June 7at6:30 p.m. at the Woodford County Extension office located at 109 E Eureka Ave. in Eureka. A $15 registration fee will be collected and includes workshop, vase and garden flowers.

Studies at Harvard have shown that cut flowers can improve the morning mood. Cut flower gardening can be an easy gardening endeavor to increase flowers in the garden while also enjoying a beautiful vase to decorate the breakfast table. Join University of Illinois Extension Horticulture Educator, Candice Miller, to learn about how to grow cut flowers, the benefits of cut flowers in the garden, how to condition them to be long lasting while revealing her all-time favorite flowers to grow. For a special treat Candice will teach participants how to design a vase of garden flowers to take home. After the program, growers can ask questions to growing flowers on a large scale basis.
