Richard Hentschel host of Green Side Up talks about gardening with the weather and the need to be patient and begin to plant based on soil temperatures this spring rather than the usual calendar dates we are used to following. The spring weather has been quite variable and gardeners will be gambling on vegetable plan t survival if air and soil temperatures are ignored. Soil preparation can be another concern with the garden soil being too wet. It is better to wait than work the ground when it is too wet.
Green Side Up is a weekly gardening program produced by University of Illinois Extension. It is hosted by Richard Hentschel, Extension Educator, Horticulture.
