Host Richard Hentschel discusses several gardening and landscaping activities and addresses winter annual weeds in our perennial flower beds. Chickweed is very common early in the spring and generates a great number of seeds and can be a problem if left to grow. Shallow hoeing, using mulches and weed preventers if appropriate are ways to manage chickweed. In the lawn right now, Nimblewill can be seen as it remains dormant against our cool season grasses. Crabgrass remains a concern in the lawn where our preferred grasses are not competitive.
