Sacagawea

SacagaweaSacagawea was born in what is now Idaho in 1789 or 1790. She was from the Shoshone (Sho Sho nee) tribe. Her name means 'bird woman.' When she was 10 years old, she was captured by a raiding band from the Hidatsa tribe, and they took her to their camp near the border of North Dakota.
