Features: Fragrant flowers (ranging from yellow to red) with narrow petals, in early spring (as early as March); autumn color is yellow to red, depending on cultivar.
Culture: Full sun to partial shade; moist, well-drained soil; best in slightly acid soil, but tolerates alkaline soil.
Cultivars:
  • 'Arnold Promise' - Yellow flowers with a red base and long petals, fragrant, 20 feet tall.
  • 'Jelena' - Flower petals are long, yellow at tip, orange in the middle and red at the base, fragrant, autumn color is orange red.
  • Primavera' - Flowers yellow with a red base, fragrant, autumn color is yellow.
  • 'Sunburst' - Light yellow flowers with long petals, but no fragrance
Mature Form: Upright-spreading; some cultivars are wide-spreading.
