The common problems of lilacs (powdery mildew, leaf spots and blights, bacterial blight, borers, scale) can occur on this species, but tend to be less serious than on other lilacs.

Features: Small (4 inch), lilac-type clusters of flowers in late spring; flowers are pale purple and have only very light fragrance; summer foliage is much smaller than other lilacs and is glossy with wavy edges.
