Diane Plewa is the Plant Diagnostic Outreach Specialist at the University of Illinois Plant Clinic. Previously, she served as a Horticulture Educator for the University of Illinois Extension in Champaign, Ford, Iroquois, and Vermilion Counties. She is responsible for the diagnosis of agricultural and ornamental plant samples received at the Plant Clinic, and for overseeing various Plant Clinic services. Diane has taught several training classes on plant diagnostics to Extension volunteers and has given presentations to the general public on a number of topics ranging from the importance of fungi to the history of herbs. She collaborates with colleagues from the University, Illinois Department of Agriculture, and Illinois Department of Natural Resources to bring First Detector Invasive Pest Workshops to locations around the state every year. She has also developed short workshops and presentations for a diverse audience, including youth and seniors. Diane earned her B.S. in Crop Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her M.S. in Plant Pathology from the Ohio State University.
