Camaya Wallace Bechard serves as a Consumer Economics Educator for Livingston, McLean, and Woodford counties. She provides leadership in financial management to individuals, families, and communities. Wallace Bechard delivers educational programs that focus on building skills and knowledge about money management and financial decision-making. Wallace Bechard works with local and state extension staff to provide leadership, training, and mentorship that support financial capabilities in all age groups.
In her role as an educator, Wallace Bechard incorporates lifespan financial perspectives to understand financial issues and circumstances at different stages of the life course. She also builds her programs on the principles of family resiliency and mindful financial literacy, which encourage holistic views of the individuals and communities she serves. Wallace Bechard integrates research-based information to deliver programs that promote positive financial behaviors.
Wallace Bechard has a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from Michigan State University. She has a Master’s in Social Responsibility from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. Wallace Bechard also holds a Graduate Certification in Community Engagement from Michigan State University. She is a certified facilitator for Real Colors personality test. Her interdisciplinary background has provided her with a wealth of knowledge and experience working with personal finance courses for college students and delivering financial education programs to individuals and families.
Wallace Bechard is a member of the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE), National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS), and Illinois Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (IEAFCS).
