Tony Franklin works as a key member of the Associate Dean and Director's core administrative team to provide leadership and vision to University of Illinois Extension.� He provides counsel, support, and day-to-day operational assistance to the Associate Dean and Director, Extension and Outreach. �Other responsibilities include coordination with the Associate Director, Budget and Finance; ACES Human Resources, Program Leaders and Regional Directors.
Franklin received his Master of Science degree in Physical Education (concentration in sports administration) and Bachelor of Science degree in Education from The University of New Mexico (UNM). He received an Associate in Science degree in Social Work Technology from Glenville State College (WV).
Franklin is an experienced professional with over 20 years in supervision and personnel leadership capacities with the majority of those years are in higher education. Prior to joining University of Illinois Extension in 2001, Franklin worked at Knox College for five years in the capacity of Associate Dean of Students where he served as an Academic Advisor, Intercultural Life Director, Chief Conduct Officer, Leadership Development Coordinator, and New Student Orientation Coordinator. �Other work experiences include working as Director for African American Student Services and Academic Counselor (UNM); �Child Care Worker/Dormitory Counselor (St. Jospeph's Indian School); Title IV Coordinator/Recreation Director and Coach (Crow Creek Reservation High School); and Juvenile Corrections Counselor.
Included among his awards and recognitions are the Outstanding African American Staff/Faculty Award; Galesburg Human Relations Award; Distinguished Leader of the Year and Rotary Club's Outstanding Vocational Community Service Leader Award and 2013 Illinois Department of Health Excellence in Community Leadership award. �
Professional affiliations include Epsilon Sigma Phi (ESP) Alpha Nu Chapter, �Extension Partners, Illinois Association of Community Development Extension Professionals, and NAACP.
