Master Naturalist Monthly Hike- Ecological Stewardship at Paddock Woods

March 10, 2018 (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM )

Paddock Woods
11600 Kean Avenue
Palos Park, IL 60464 (Cook County)

Please join us and feel welcome, fulfilled and appreciated, as well as earn volunteer hours, as we cut and burn exotic brush in order to make Paddock Woods, a FPDCC priority site, more healthy. This is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to complete an observation in order to achieve a brush pile burn boss certification. To help facilitate networking and camaraderie among members of the Master Naturalist community, absolutely no noisy power equipment will be in use at this event. Much of the brush will be pre-cut before your arrival. Wear long sleeves, long slacks or jeans, and sturdy shoes. Natural fiber clothing (wool or cotton) works best, especially when burning brush piles. Multiple layers on cool days allow you to shed a layer as the day warms. It is recommended that participants bring drinking water. We provide gloves and the necessary tools. We will be meeting from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at
Palos Park Woods North parking lot11600 Kean AvenuePalos Park, IL 60464
We will also have the opportunity to engage the public to demonstrate how the vital role of volunteering helps serve people and protect the environment.
