Looking to improve your forage production, then plan to attend the 2018 Illinois Forage Institute at Rend Lake Community College near Ina, IL. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 14. The early registration deadline is March 7. The Illinois Forage and Grassland Council is hosting the event.
The topics for the Institute will be cover crops for forage and nutrition sources; hay and forage economics; soil fertility and grazing management as integrated weed control; challenges of grazing lush forage; sorghum in forage systems; and forage species selection and seeding. Dr. Chris Teutsch, Forage Specialist at the University of Kentucky, and Travis Meteer, Beef Extension Educator at the University of Illinois Extension will be two of the featured speakers that day.
Registration includes lunch, and costs $15 for council members, $20 for nonmembers and $10 for students. Registration fees increase $5 for members and nonmembers after March 7.
