Healthy Aging Summit: The POWER of Aging

March 21, 2018 (8:30 AM - 2:00 PM )

LifeSpan Center of Coles County
11021 E. CR 800 N
Charleston, IL 61920 (Coles County)

Having a healthy lifestyle and knowledge of resources can help you stay healthier longer while improving your quality of life. Featuring three dynamic speakers,  "The POWER of Aging" will help you examine the financial, nutritional, emotional and social factors of healthy aging.       Presentations include:
Superpowers: Your Wishes, Done Right!  When you can't talk for yourself, then you need family or friends to make decisions (both health and financial) for you. Luckily we have legal documents that  can be used to communicate our wishes. Walk away from this presentation with knowledge about these documents and with an action plan for yourself.
Super Foods to the Rescue!  "Super food" has become a popular buzzword in the media and although there is no real technical definition, foods that achieve superstar status are those that are nutrient-rich. Participants will learn the what and how of "super foods" and ways to incorporate more of them into their diet.
The Power of Positive Aging  What is the secret to successful aging? Studies have shown that successful aging has more to do with being optimistic, maintaining friendships, and choosing to live a healthy lifestyle. Participants will learn about what research says about ageism and about the factors that contribute to positive aging and considerations for making the most of our later years.

This program will be held at the LifeSpan Center of Coles County on March 21 from 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM and will include a buffet lunch. There is a cost of $10 per person to cover lunch and materials.
