We have had expereince with using deoderant soap to repel deer, but found that it did not work for rabbits.

We had some success with baby powder as a rabbit deterrant when applied to the foliage of the plants. However, it must be re-appied frequently-every 5 days or after any rain, dew, etc. (it must be dry).

A fungicide with the active ingredient, Thiram, and labelled as an animal repellant, may be applied to plants, according to label directions. Unfortunately, if the animal has already had a taste of your plant, the repellant may not be too effective.

The best defense against a rabbit is to fence in the garden with a 2 1/2 ft. high chicken wire fence.

Bunnies grow into sweet skinny rabbits in my back yard. Commercial deterants don't seem to hold power once it rains. Will antibacterial soap shards hurt the roots of my lovely plants -- perennials (in the new stage).

I'm afraid I don't have any information on whether antibacterial soap shards will harm roots of perennials.

I've read that cayenne pepper is effective in repelling rabbits. A recent article discussed it's use by farmers in Scandinavia (Finland?). It was effective is small quantities when sprayed on plants to the point the farmers want it declared a pesticide so the government will subsidise it. According to the article, they used 5 small bottles in dilute form to cover 2.5 acres. I'm going to try ground cayenne mixed with an antidessicant to spray on my azaleas. They get mauled by rabbits each winter. The antidessicant should provide some resistance to weather and also function as intended while holding the pepper solution on the leaf.
