we find a big ant in the house and can not find out whats kind its is , its 1' to 1'1/2 long and red velvet looking and has a stinger

I don't know what type of ant this might be or what you might do about it. It would be helpful to have a picture or you might want to contact your local extension office and submit a sample for identification.
