My mom has a tall cedar or pine or evergreen tree in her front yard. This morning there were "pods" round brown stinky things laying on the ground all around the tree. Some bigger than my fist! They stink and have centepedes or wormy things coming out of them. The tree does have pine cones. What are these pods? Why do they stink? Are they harmful? I am afraid to break one open to see what is in it because they stink so bad. I thought they were some type of mushroom at first.
