trimmimg roses

when is the best time to trim roses? I didn't have very many blooms this year. How deep should their mulch be?

HI Kim, trimming roses depends on when they bloom. If they bloom early before about June 15 then they should be trimmed right after flowering. Most roses bloom later than that than they can be pruned just about anytime but I would reserve severe pruning for April. sandy
