Calla Lilies & seeds

My Calla Lilies have produced a large quantity of big black seeds. I have been informed that these seeds will never grow, and that the Calla Lilies only propagate via their roots. Should I plant these seeds or just discard them? If a plant produces seeds, shouldn’t they grow? Sorry about my previous e-mail when I called my Calla Lily a Dahlias. Thanks

Hi Jerry, Generally callas are propagated by the rhizomes or thru tissue culture. the seeds can be planted shallowly in soilless mix but it takes 6 months for the seeds to germinate at 50 degrees F. Rhizome method is much faster and produces a flowering plant faster as well. happy gardening, Sandy
