Wind block

I live next to a farmers field to the North and our house faces East. I would like to put in something for a wind break that grows fairly upright but alot of the Arborvitae in the neighborhood don't look like they are doing well. Are they a good choice or are there better choices available?

Hi Juleigh, the beauty of arborvitae is they get tall without much width. Many people just dont have the space for anything wider. they do need watereing and I think people forget to water even after 2-3 years of planting. If you have the space white spruce, norway spruce and douglas firs are good choices. Sandy
