There are small (smaller than a lady bug) iridescent bronze tear shaped bugs eatting my St. Johns wart flowers. They do not seem to eat any of the surrounding native plants. I can not find any information on them. They are not Japanese Beetles. They are very shiny. Any ideas as to what they are?

You may want to take a pix and send to your local extension office. use this website to find the one nearest you. http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/state/findoffice.html there is a St Johnswort beetle but I'm not sure if it is in your area. but you might do a search of images to see if it looks like your critter. good luck.
