There are small (smaller than a lady bug) iridescent bronze tear shaped bugs eatting my St. Johns wart flowers. They do not seem to eat any of the surrounding native plants. I can not find any information on them. They are not Japanese Beetles. They are very shiny. Any ideas as to what they are?

Hi Marcia, sorry nothing comes to mind with your description. You may want to take a pix and send to your local extension office. use this website to find the one nearest you. http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/state/findoffice.html there is a St Johnswort beetle but I'm not sure if it is in your area. but you might do a search of images to see if it looks like your critter. good luck.
