Hi, we are getting ready to plant our one shade tree in our new yard and like the frontier elm or chinkapin oak. We called local nurseries and they are out of stock, but they recommended waiting until spring to plant either of those trees. Does that sound right? I thought fall planting was preferable. Thanks for your advice.

Hi Scott, The oak could be planted in the fall if it was already dug but on those species digging in spring is preferable. we have a few species prefer spring digging. Elm is fall or spring but it may be more of an availability issue on Frontier. happy planting, sandy
