Hello! My son, Luke, is doing a few 4-H projects around the topic of plants. His sisters are also interested. Right now we are completely frustrated becasue we can't seem to be able to identify the trees in our own yard. All of our identification books are native species, so perhaps these are nursery trees from around the world? DO you have any ideas to identify trees in our yard or even better, is there someone that can meet with our plant group (there are a few of us studying plants/trees all this year)? thank you, lesen

HI Lesen, I can understand the frustration. couple things might help. We have Tree walk guides for University Ave in Champaign and State Streets in Urbana that we could give to each member. Just stop by our office. They are free of charge. it's nice in that the trees are listed by address so the group can do self-guided tours. Also Carle Park in Urbana has many trees labeled. If you have ten or more people we could ceratinly chat about a special program that I could do for the group. of course it gets tougher to ID as the leaves fall. treely yours, Sandy
