I have just rediscovered hollyhocks (remembering them from childhood!) and I have a BEAUTIFUL flowering stand of double bloom hollyhock in my yard right now. My question is once the blooms are finished and the seed pods appear can you cut the plants back a bit. It is HUGE and is overpowering a big corner of my garden right now and it would be nice to be able to cut it back a bit. Thanks for your help.

You can certainly cut back the flower heads right now. Keep in mind that hollyhocks will reseed themselves if left to their own devices.
