Black Spiders

In the past 2-days (3/16-3/18) my workplace on south Neil St has been invaded by hundreds of little black spiders. They have 1/4" bodies and 1/2" long with legs. We've been here 6 years and have not seen this before, at all. Any ideas why they came, and how they might be controlled?

HI Paul, with the many spiders possible I woulnd know hwhich ones they might be. I imagine with the stretch of warm weather you are experiencing a new generation. the spiders we are most concerned about are brown recluse. here are some pix of them. http://www.ipm.iastate.edu/ipm/hortnews/node/350 hope it helps.
