I have some very uneven areas in my back yard. I read somewhere I could put down news paper then top soil and plant seed or sod. That would be easier than hauling many bags of top soil. Would this work? I have a long pathway which requires alot of mulch. Could I use shedded newspaper mixed with mulch? Thank you for your advice.

Hi Patrice, You could ceratainly use wet newspaper under several inches of mulch in paths. I would not use it where there is traffic such as a lawn area. It tends to become visible. I would recommentd filling in the areas with a compost and soil combo to help level out areas then reseed or resod those areas. good luck,
