In the past six weeks rye grass has taken over large sections of my lawn . How can I beat take care of it, dig it out and reseed, seed over or fertilize and herbicide ?

HI Mary, first I would wonder if it is really ryegrass. plus there is perennial ryegrass that looks similar to bluegrass so it typicaly is not considered a weed and there is annual ryegrass. how to take care of any grassy weed depends on whether it is an annual or a perennial. you may want to bring in a sample to our office and maybe we can figure it out.
