asparagus

We planted a new bed of asparagus in 2010. We planted 2 yr. roots. I understand you are not to harvest a lot of it the year after planting. How much can we harvest this year without adversely affecting the crop in the future?

Hi Marilyn, Actually asparagus should not be harvested until the third year after planting so you really need to wait another year. At the third year it can be harvested for just one month. takes patience but the good news is it will produce for decades once it get going. Sandy
