pine tree

we planted a new pine tree end of winter and beginning of spring. It has gotten plenty of water but the needles have all turned brown. It still seems subtle, branches not dry or brittle. Is it dead? Is there something we can do at this point to save it? It was left in a container since Christmas until planted. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Robyn Lyon

Hi robyn, Where was the tree kept while it was in the container since Christmas? if it was outside the root ball may have gone through freezing and thawing which can kill roots. if it was indoors it may have gotten too warm. I would scratch the stems with your thumbnail to see if it is still green underneath. if it is then there is still hope. just keep soil moist but not soggy. good luck, sandy
