We have a couple varieties of oak trees in our yard, and noticed that in the last couple of weeks all the leaves are gone from the tops of the trees, one of the trees is almost completely stripped of its upper leaves. is this oak wilt? or some pest eating the leaves and what should we do to protect the trees?

HI Lynn, you didnt mention what kind of oak and how old they are. oak wilt is more common in red oak than white oak. typically the leaves die quickly but do not fall off. so this does not sound typical of oak wilt. it's a bit early to see major caterpillar feeding. We would need to see a sample to tell you more but I realize that may be tough. I would wait and see if they releaf could have been wind and cold damage. or bring in a sample if possible. Sandy
