What can I do to treat/stop an extreme case of hollyhock rust?

Hi Kathie, it is really a matter of good sanitation to prevent next years disease. removing and destroying (burying) infected leaves. too late to spray this year but could use a fungicide of chlorothalonil or myclobutanil when new growth appears in spring. sanitation is crucial to get the fungus out of there. usually not life threatening but certainly "ugly". hope this helps. sandy
