I have a Dianthus (Pinks:Early Bird Frizzy). I planted this beautiful flower last week. Since then there is damage. The stems are broken off, but not at the bottom in the mid section. (maybe not cutworms) I have tried several Commercial products to keep the rabbit away, with no luck. Today I sprinkles Irish Spring, Original Scent, around the plant to save my one last bud.

Can you tell me if I am on the right tracks with the rabbits or could it be something else?

How do you feel about the use of Irish Spring and your suggestions on using it and where to use it and where not to use it.

sometimes it is tough to identify the culprit. i will say some of the Dianthus have brittle stems that can easily be broken just by animals running by. Irish Spring and others are perfumey and can sometimes help. however in high populations of wildlife ie rabbits it may not help. physical barriers such as wire fencing is the best for sure method. you can do a quick cover with an upended wire basket over the plant. i have had good luck with Liquid Fence as a taste and smell repellant. good luck, sandy
