Container vegetable gardening

I have access to plastic 55 gallon barrels. I would like to use these for container vegetable gardening. They were filled with windex and still have an ammonia smell to them.

Will they be ok to use for this purpose and if so, should an admendment be added to rid of too much ammonia leaching into soil?

Ron, I would triple rinse them with soap then water. Then see how they smell. You might let them sit in the sun for a few days. It should evaporate any remaining ammonia.
