I have a privet hedge that was planted by the previous owners of the house. I'm not sure what varietal it is. I would like to buy some additional plants to fill in two holes. I've looked on line to try to identify it, but I'm still not sure. It has white flowers in the spring and little black berries in fall. The leaves are ordinary green. I've also tried taking a clipping to local nurseries, but the only type they carry is golden privet, so I will have to order on line. Can you help figure out what type I should order? Thanks

HI Sally, just soudn like one of the common privets Our website may give you more info. http://urbanext.illinois.edu/hortanswers/plantdetail.cfm?PlantID=416&PlantTypeID=8 one caveat they can be quite weedy in natural areas so we do not recommend planting them. have you considered using something else such as arrowwood viburnum. http://urbanext.illinois.edu/hortihints/0204a.html
