I have 'new' golden privet bushes, planted by the landscaping company, I didn't pick them out. They are only 3' ro 3.5' tall, but very gangly and straggly looking. I know to cut them back in early Winter, November probably. But, since all three have main trunks with branches coming out from there, do I cut back the main trunk or branch to 8" or 10" also? I don't mind cutting them back harshly, I just want to make sure I'm doing it correctly. thanks!

Hi Terry, privets are actually hard to kill and can take a severe pruning to the ground. i suggest contacting your local Colorado Extension for best timing. sorry answer was so delayed. http://extension.colostate.edu/topic-areas/yard-garden/
