Purple Loosestrife

Is purple loosestrife an invasive species in IL?

I am looking for a low maintenance flowering shrub, and came across Russian sage and a pink variety that looked striking which I think is the purple loosestrife. Any insight you can provide -- which one is more suited, etc will be useful. Thanks!

sorry for the late reply. Russian sage is fabulous and does not have the nasty exotic invasive habit of purple loosestrife. happy gardening. Sandy
