Topsoil?

I've decided to make a raised vegetable garden this spring (my soil is full of gravel and there is a layer of bricks about a foot down). I have the materials to construct the bed, but I need the soil now. I am planning on getting compost from the landscape recycling center, but I assume that I can't just plant in compost, that I need soil as well. Is there any place to obtain bulk amounts of soil/topsoil in Champaign county? Thanks!

Margaret, Good idea witthe compost. I dont know of anny regular place that handles soil for sale. Usually its related to a construction site. Check in newspaper want ads. Although buyer beware. I'd ask them where it is coming from. You may want to go through a local nursery to see if they have access to soil. Otherwise you are stuck buying it in bags.
