What type of tree can you plant next to a leach field and how close can it be?

Richard, Tree roots will certainly grow well past their dripline. I would recommend a large shrub instead. If you must plant a tree near a leach field I would make sure it is a small maturing tree such as redbud or serviceberry. I would recommend contacting your local Extension office for your local conditions and tree selections. try this website for additional info http://extension.unh.edu/FHGEC/FHGEC.htm
