Holes around ash tree

Just noticed dozens of dime-sized holes in the ground around the base of a backyard tree, which I think is an ash. A number of lower limbs have been dying, & I don't know why. Could there be some connection? -- Ron, 367-7329

The holes in the ground and the tree decline could be unrelated. Perhaps you'd like to bring a sample of your tree to the Extension office.
