Is now the time to plant strawberries and rhubarb? How long before these plants will bear fruit? What varieties of strawberries and rhubarb are good for C-U gardens? Are there some good ever-bearing varieties of strawberries that you would recommend?

Traci, Usually we would palnt strawberries and rhubarb in the early spring. plus plants are generally more available then. Generally production starts the third year after planting. Tristar and Tribute are good. June bearers include Honeoye and Allstar. Here are a couple websites you might find helpful. http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/strawberries/ http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/veggies/rhubarb1.html Have fun, Sandy
