we have too many yuccas growing together and can not even get into the area to thin them out. Can we cut the leaves down to the ground so we can then get shovels into the area to dig some of them up or will it hurt the plant to cut all the leaves down to the ground? This is 50 yr old yard we are trying to fix.

Bob, Its tough to kill yucca so I say if cutting to the ground is the best way to get to them then go for it. however usually we would divide and move plants in spring. yuccas are tough enough they should make it.
