Hi, Since we had a cold winter, do you think we dont need to have a grub treatment for our lawn this year? And do you think this year japanese beettles will appear less than last year?

Thanks a lot.

I have been getting this same question a lot lately so glad you asked. I wish it were true that the cold would have killed some Japanese beetle grubs. Unfortunately for us Japanese beetles live into Wisconsin so they can deal with cold effectively by burrowly deeply in the ground. I wouldnt count on having fewer this year. Wish I had better news. From what I have expereinced and herad others tell me they do seem to go through a 3 year cycle where they are really bad for 3 years in one area then the fourth year the population drops. they will never go away completely but maybe populations wont be as high in some areas.
