I have about 20 hydrangea plants, all planted next to each other, that grow rather large each year. I would to transplant them. Their first shoots are already a couple of feet tall. Is it too late to transplant them this year? Also, do you have any advice on how best to transplant hydrangeas?

Julie, Usually it would be fine to move them in April and first of May but it has been so exceptionally warm right now I hesitate to recommend it. Mainly because hydrangeas are such water hogs. If you are willing to water everyday and maybe twice a day on hot windy days you should be ok. Perhaps you could just move every other one. Otherwise I would prune after flowering to control height and wait until next April to transplant.
