What is Timothy hay? Is it alfalfa or some other type of grass. I suspect that timothy hat is a trade name for a particular type of grass. I would like to grow it for my kids pets, but I can't find seed for it.

Timothy is a type of hay grown usually in conjunction with alfalfa. You should be able to get seed at a local feed store such as Woodstock Farm & Lawn or Northern Farm Service. FS has a plant in Chemung and Marengo. If you do an internet search you will find lots of info on timothy.
